Framingham is a city in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Incorporated in 1700, it is within Middlesex County and the MetroWest subregion of the Greater Boston metropolitan area. The city proper covers 25 square miles and is the 14th most populated city in Massachusetts. In April of 2017, the residents voted in favor of adopting a charter to transition from a representative town meeting system to a mayor-council government. The municipality transitioned to city status on January 1, 2018.
Framingham boasts numerous state and local parks, including six major ponds, three local beaches, and two golf courses. In addition, ski slopes and ocean beaches are just an hour away from Framingham's centralized location.
Framingham has 14 public schools which are part of the Framingham Public School District. Including, one high school, three middle schools, nine elementary schools, Blocks Pre-School and other private, Montessori and religious schools.
MBTA commuter rail service is available to South Station and Back Bay Station, via the MBTA's Framingham/Worcester Line, which connects South Station in Boston and Union Station in Worcester. Travel time to Back Bay Station is 42–45 minutes.
